Rather Have a Root Canal?
Sometimes the root of a tooth becomes compromised due to breakage or other trauma, or decay and a root canal must be performed. During a root canal, Dr. Dassani will remove the pulp from the center of the compromised tooth and fills the cavity left behind. After the pulp is removed and the hole filled, a crown will be placed over the tooth to seal it in and provide strength to the remaining tooth structure. This must be done to prevent the development of a painful infection in the pulp, which could cause abscess and spread to other teeth. Root canals are also performed to treat infections that have developed into an abscessed tooth.
While Dr. Dassani will numb the area of the procedure while it is being performed, you will likely feel some discomfort after the numbing medicine wears off. Pain medication should help with this and pain should subside in a matter of days.
If you are experiencing tooth discomfort, or know you have an infection or abscess, call our Houston, TX area dental office right away so Dr. Dassani can help. Proudly serving the Houston, Webster, Clear Lake, League City, and Friendswood communities.
